A Head Start Towards a Healthy Life
Please help us by helping our youngest who are just starting out on their journey, our newborn patients. Providing them with a welcome basket with needed essentials, will give them a head start towards a healthy life. Last year, we welcomed 350 newborns. More than half of those newborns were born into households below the poverty level.
Did you know the death rate for Black infants is more than four times the death rate for White infants? Nassau County’s Black babies are more likely to die before their first birthday because most are from the poorest of communities. These are the communities that we serve.

For more than 80 years, Finland’s expectant mothers have been given a box by the state containing bodysuits, bedding, outdoor gear, bathing products as well as other essential items. Some say it helped Finland achieve one of the world’s lowest infant mortality rates. It is a program that dates back to 1938 and designed to give all children in Finland, no matter what background they are from, an equal start in life. Every baby deserves an equal start.
