School-Based Health Centers

Ensuring that students have access to high-quality health care when they need it

About School-Based Health Centers (SBHC)

The purpose of SBHCs is to provide a model of service delivery that ensures comprehensive care to adolescents and improve the overall physical and emotional health of students. The availability of on-site healthcare reduces absenteeism and encourages adolescents to take responsibility for their own well-being.

Our School-Based Health Center (SBHC) is licensed health care providers, who collaborate with schools to address the broad range of concerns and adverse experiences that affect students’ healthy development. They work in conjunction with school nurses to provide expanded medical and behavioral health services to students during the school day.

At the School-Based Health Center, your child can receive the services at no cost to you, regardless of insurance status. The SBHC is allowed to bill insurance, however there are no co-pays for you, and you do not receive a bill. There is no requirement to transfer care from your primary care provider (PCP).
